Biography

Lynne Marie FleggOboist and English Hornist Lynne Marie Flegg performs as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician with many of the finest organizations in southeast Michigan.

Lynne frequently appears with local orchestras such as the Detroit Symphony, Michigan Opera Theatre, Toledo Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, and Flint Symphony. In 2007, she performed at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Musicin Santa Cruz, CA. Her orchestral background includes both classical and pop music, as she has accompanied many popular music stars such as Harry Connick Jr., Marvin Hamlisch, Roberta Flack, and Mannheim Steamroller.

Lynne enjoys an active chamber music schedule, performing dozens of recitals and educational concerts every year as a member of both the Great Lakes Consort and the Ann Arbor Symphony Woodwind Quintet. She frequently collaborates with many of the Detroit area’s outstanding choral groups.

Her solo and chamber music performances have been heard on National Public Radio and on several compact discs.

She earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Arizona State University, and completed additional studies at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Boston University, and Harvard.

As an accomplished educator, Lynne is a frequent adjudicator and guest clinician in southeast Michigan. With over twenty years of teaching experience, she currently provides music lessons in her Farmington Hills studio. She accepts students from age 10 and up, from beginner through advanced skill levels. Lessons are available for:

  • private oboe lessons
  • private English horn lessons
  • small chamber ensemble lessons (two to six players, all woodwinds or a combination of winds and strings)
  • private oboe or English horn reed making lessons
  • group reed adjusting lessons or group reed making lessons
